Match Your House with Your Favorite Color

Most people have their own preference of colors. Some may be particular to a basic color or others may want a set of colors such the warm and cool ones. The color preference may manifest on the clothes and accessories worn and even on the decorations of a house. In fact, there are a lot of ways on how to decorate and beautify a house using your favorite color and this is through hues and outlines.

To make the favorite color standout, on can harmonize it with different hues. Hues help in providing a basis for comparison through the color intensity and family; ergo, colors will really stand out. In the living room for example, if your favorite color is hot pink, you may select one or a few objects that will have that color and the rest will have other hues such as powdered pink or old rose. Another example would be setting a color theme of warm colors in your bedroom. Make sure the colors are a diverse selection from the family of brown, orange, yellow, etc.

Using hues is the most common way of making a color standout. But another way would be using outlines. Outlines can be a selection of metallic colors or construction materials used to match a solid color – this is the favorite color. Examples of outlines are red with gold and blue with silver. This matching technique is already used on the furniture e.g. a red sofa with a metallic gold frame. Others may opt to match their favorite solid color with materials such as wood. Popular combinations which stand out effectively are white on wood or any fluorescent color on a wood background. Taking the living room as an example again, you can match wood furniture with neon pink upholstery. So basically, the idea of outlines is to complement the solid color without using a color intensity and family comparison.
